…an irrational but irresistible motive for grief is the second full-length Hawk Moth Records release from Melbourne producer DPGRNC. …an irrational but irresistible motive for grief sees the songwriter and performer move away from the lo-fi guitar and drum ballads formerly favoured on his 2015 self-titled debut release, into a darker world of retro-hued electronics and beats, exploring the collateral damage and related gnashing thoughts of human relationships gone wrong. Recorded in solitude over a period of three months, the album represents a particularly fruitful vein of inspiration tied together via themes of love lost, regretted and hoped for.
